2013 Dutch Swan Award nominee at Nederlands Dans Theater
The Dance Jury of the VSCD (Society of Theatre and Concert Hall Boards) has nominated Medhi Walerski for the Swan Award for the ‘most impressive dance performance 2013’. The Dutch Swan Awards will be presented on 6 October 2013 at the Dutch Dance Celebration during the Dutch Dance Festival in Maastricht.
The VSCD (Society of Theatre and Concert Hall Boards) Dance Jury nominated NDT dancer Medhi Walerski his role in School of Thought by Sol León & Paul Lightfoot. The VSCD Dance Jury says the following about Medhi Walerski: “Walerski proves himself a mature dancer with every convincing movement, every gesture and every look. With its understated yet powerful performance he creates, in dance and at rest, a continuous line in the choreography. A strong movement artist and an impressive stage personality that the viewer can not ignore"
In addition to Medhi Walerski, Dunja Jocic and Francesco Curci have been nominated for the Dutch Swan for the ‘most impressive dance performance 2013’ for their roles in respectively in Midnight Rising by Guy Weizman and Roni Haver and How Long is Now by Conny Janssen.
The VSCD presents the Dutch Swans for the best production and best dance performance each season. The 2013 VSCD Dance Jury is comprised of Anita van Dolen (chairperson), Peggy Olislaegers, Fons Dejong, Hildegard Draaijer, Dave Schwab, Stella van Leeuwen, Simon de Mowbray, Liesbeth Wildschut, Nada Mounzer.
