Myrthe van Opstal wins Prize of Encouragement

Myrthe van Opstal (1987, Venlo) has won the Aanmoedigingsprijs / Prize of Encouragement 2013 from Dansersfonds’79. According to the jury Van Opstal has developed into an inspired dancer at NDT, showing high intensity and individuality and a precision and nuance in dynamics that animates every choreography.

Myrthe dances for the first company since August 2012, after dancing for two years for NDT 2. Previously she was nominated for the Dutch Zwaan 2012 for her role in Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen van Jiří Kylián. The Aanmoedigingsprijs will be handed out on Tuesday December 17 by former star dancers Han Ebbelaar and Alexandra Radius at the DeLaMar Theater in Amsterdam.

The jury consists of dance critics Ine Rietstap and Jan Baart, Marian Sarstädt (former artistic director of Nederlands Dans Theater) and former soloists Alexandra Radius, Han Ebbelaar and Karin Schnabel.
