Ontwikkel je danstalent door samen met een van onze dansers te werken met het repertoire van onze choreografen. Zo maak je kennis met onze werkwijze, het repertoire en de verschillende danstalen die het NDT rijk is. Het repertoire dat het uitgangspunt is zal diezelfde avond te zien zijn in het Lucent Danstheater.Om deel te nemen aan ‘Open studio’ moet je op een dansvakschool zitten of afgestudeerd danser zijn.

A two week dance course for (pre)professional dancers.          

From 5 until 17 August 2013 our company will organize a new edition of Nederlands Dans Theater Summer Intensive. Throughout two ‘intensive’ weeks, (pre)professional dancers will have the opportunity to develop and fine-tune their skills as dance artists. The course focuses on talented dancers in the age-range of 14 till 30 years and is completely structured upon our artistic vision and objectives as a contemporary dance company. Ultimately this will be an exclusive opportunity for a select group of dancers to experience the knowledge, inspiration and passion of our artistic team as well as working side by side with our dancers.

Schedule
During the auditions Nederlands Dans Theater has selected 60 participants based on their age, experience, technical development and creativity. The selected participants will be divided by the artistic staff into three groups: group A, B and C. This division is made based on age. The choice of content for the classes and the selected repertoire is based on age and level of the participants in each group.
For the two week Summer Intensive group A and B will take the following classes: Gaga, Ballet, Repertoire Solo Crystal Pite, Repertoire Solo Paul Lightfoot & Sol León, Repertoire Partnering Jiří Kylián, Repertoire Partnering Paul Lightfoot & Sol León and New Composition. Group C has Ballet, Repertoire Mix, Improvisation and New Composition on their schedule. The content of the classes and the selected repertoire is composed based on age and level of the participants in each group.

To create an even more complete experience, ‘Nederlands Dans Theater Summer Intensive’ also offers a special auxiliary program including master classes and various discussion topics. All extra activities are related to NDT and its history within the field of contemporary dance. This additional aspect of our program will provide you with more in-depth knowledge and, we are certain, will challenge you to further investigate the many layers and perceptions of contemporary dance.

Scholarships
The participants in our summer course come from all over the world. Some of them have difficulties to finance the course fee, accommodation fee and to purchase expensive plane ticket to fly to The Netherlands and participate in the course. Nederlands Dans Theater wants to select participants for the course based on talent and not on budget. Therefore we created a Scholarship plan to help young talents finance their dream. Participants are given the opportunity to apply for a scholarship by supplying a motivation and recommendation letter in which the need for a scholarship is explained.

To fund these scholarships, Nederlands Dans Theater receives support from private sponsors who financially ‘adopt’ a participant by financing the full course fee. We also work together with a variety of guest families who open up their homes for our participants. This year a total of nine sponsors financially support nine dancers to participate in the course. Eight guest families open up their homes to accommodate a total of thirteen dancers during their fourteen nigh stay in The Hague. In total, Nederlands Dans Theater can support 23 dancers with a full or partial scholarship and/or housing this summer. This amazing result is exclusively made possible by private donations. An otherwise impossible dream will come true for a selected group of talented dancers. Nederlands Dans Theater would like to thank all the sponsors that helped make this possible!

Masterclass NDT    
Tijdens de Masterclass NDT ontmoet je de dansers van ons gezelschap voor een intensieve middag in onze studio’s. Het eerste gedeelte van de middag ga je met één van onze dansers aan de slag met ons repertoire, het tweede gedeelte van de middag krijg je een compositieworkshop. Een verdiepende workshopmiddag voor professionele dansers of studenten aan een dansacademie.
