Ander Zabala began his dance education in Spain with Ion Beitia, then at Maurice Bejart’s School, John Neumeier’s School, finishing his studies at Rosella Hightower’s school in Cannes where he was awarded the Prix Serge Lifar 1991. He danced as a soloist with the CCNT-Jean Christophe Maillot, the Birmingham Royal Ballet and with the Frankfurt Ballet and The Forsythe Company performing worldwide.
Working closely with William Forsythe since 1992 until present collaborating in the creations of many works. As Forsythe’s choreographic assistant he stages his works internationally.
From 2015 till 2018 Ander worked as a Rehearsal Director with Nederlands Dans Theater and rejoined in August 2021 as Rehearsal Director of NDT 1 & 2 under the Artistic Direction of Emily Molnar.
Teaching Ballet, Improvisation Technologies, seminars and Master classes internationally including Roehampton University London, Frankfurt University of Performing arts and the Goethe University for Sport Science, Palucca University of Dance Dresden, Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et Danse Paris, Royal Conservatoire Den Haag, Codarts Rotterdam.
