Dancer and choreographer Bryan Arias (Puerto Rico) has created works for dance companies worldwide. His work In frayed edges was presented during Up & Coming choreographers at Nederlands Dans Theater in 2016. In 2013 Arias founded his own ARIAS Company. Arias created his first ever piece for the regular programming of NDT 2 in season 2018/2019, Epoch.
Bryan Arias was born in Puerto Rico but moved to New York City with his family at the age of nine, where after he later followed his dance training at La Guardia High School for the Performing Arts. As a dancer, Bryan performed with Complexious Contemporary Ballet, Nederlands Dans Theater 2 and Crystal Pite’s company Kidd Pivot, performing in works by renown choreographers among which Jirí Kylián, Ohad Naharin and Crystal Pite.
As a choreographer, Bryan Arias has gained recognition for his work as the recipient of the First Place and Audience Choice awards for his work Without Notice at the Sixth Copenhagen International Choreography Competition, the Hubbard Street Dance International Commission Project winner, Rolex mentor and protégé award nominee and 2017 winner of the Princess Grace Choreography Fellowship Award.
