Christos Papadopoulos

Choreographer

Christos Papadopoulos (Greece, 1982) studied dance and choreography at the School for New Dance Development (SNDO) in Amsterdam, theatre at Greece’s National Theatre Drama School, and political sciences in Athens. He has choreographed for numerous directors in Greece and has taught movement and improvisation at the Drama School of the Athens Conservatoire since 2003.

The choreographer’s first works, OPUS and ELVEDON, were well-received, chosen by Aerowaves in 2016 and 2018 respectively. Papadopoulos has since created works for Dance On and the Lyon Opera Ballet, among others. He is currently creating a solo work for Georgios Kotsifakis for the LAC Lugano Arte e Cultura and working on a new creation for his company Onassis Stegi Athens, premiering in May 2025.

For NDT 1’s programme Architecture of the Invisible, Papadopoulos will create a new work exploring subtle everyday connections and the beautiful simplicity of shared moments.

Nature serves as a profound influence in my artistic pursuits, particularly in observing the synchronized movements of bird flocks and fish shoals. This has led me to appreciate the significance of collective motion, fostering social awareness, and crafting a cohesive, dynamic presence within space.
